The Manitowoc American Legion baseball team used some solid pitching to help take down Kimberly 4-0 in the first game of the regional tournament yesterday (July 19th) at Municipal Field.
Manitowoc would strike right out of the gate, as Dan Schmitz pelted a double, allowing Tate Hartlaub to cross the plate.
Two more Manitowoc runs were scored in the 4th inning thanks in part to a Gavin Lettenberger RBI single, and in the 5th, Brock Peterson would drive in Manitowoc’s final run.
Peterson, Schmitz, and Zander Popp would each pick up 2 hits, including a double each, to lead the offensive attack.
On the mound, Nathan Stephany had a gem of a night, going the distance while allowing just 5 hits and striking out 10 batters.
Manitowoc’s next battle will be against Bay Port tonight as they beat Marinette 5-1.
First pitch tonight is scheduled for 5:00 p.m., also at Municipal Field.
