Sixth District Wisconsin Congressman Glenn Grothman has introduced two bills to address the student loan debate.
The bills come in response to the Biden Administration’s desire to waive federal student loans that would be funded through taxpayer money.
Grothman openly refutes that plan saying that “Encouraging student debt cancellation is insulting to every American who paid their loans or never attended college”.
The first bill, Protecting Taxpayers from Student Loan Bailouts Act, will require the Department of Education to review the fiscal impact of future student loan forgiveness to ensure the cost to the federal government does not increase.
Next, the Informed Student Borrowing Act would aim to educate students on the potential risks of borrowing in hopes of “best serving their financial and academic future”.
