The Manitowoc Police Department is partnering with the Manitowoc Public Library on Tuesday, August 1st for local families to learn about crime prevention and family safety, along with other fun activities for the kids to enjoy.
National Night Out is an annual event that occurs on the first Tuesday in August across the country and promotes awareness and partnerships between the police force and the community.
It will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a fire truck, an ambulance, and a squad car outside for families to see and learn their uses.
They will offer child ID kits complete with fingerprints and other information that can be turned in to law enforcement if the child ever goes missing.
At 6:45 p.m., weather permitting, there will be a K-9-unit demonstration outside.
Several informational booths will be set up for parents to learn about safety advice and resources, and a scavenger hunt for the kids to get school supplies for the upcoming year.
The event is open to the public and will be held at the Manitowoc Public Library in the Balkansky Community Room.
