The lakeshore area was hit by a sudden storm yesterday afternoon which knocked down tree limbs, dented cars with hail, and left many neighborhoods in disarray.
Manitowoc Public Utilities reports that approximately 3,000 customers lost power during the storm, but all circuits were restored by around 9:00 p.m.
Crews suspended work on smaller, isolated outages at that time due to work safety concerns, but they are now back out and working.
Jennie Nelson, the Communications Manager for MPU tells Seehafer News “Much of the damage to power lines was due to toppled trees and broken limbs. Numerous homeowners have had their electric service entrance equipment torn off their house by falling trees, and will need the assistance of private electrical contractors to make repairs.”
Two Rivers Utility Crews were also out after the storm helping aid residents in Manitowoc in what they are calling a case of “neighbors helping neighbors.”
