Wisconsin’s Attorney General, Josh Kaul, has once again declined a proposed settlement related to PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) contamination.
Kaul’s decision aligns with that of four other attorneys general who jointly rejected a substantial one-billion dollar settlement offer from DuPont.
Kaul conveyed that the monetary proposal of $1.18 billion put forth by the company falls short of addressing the severity of the issue.
This rejection from Kaul comes approximately two weeks following his dismissal of a separate settlement proposal valued at $10 billion, this time from 3M.
Kaul emphasized that the magnitude of both offers remains inadequate in light of the extensive implications for millions of individuals across Wisconsin and other affected states, where concerns over water quality persist due to PFAS contamination.
