Manitowoc police have arrested a 37-year-old local man for multiple charges in connection with separate incidents of violence involving his live-in girlfriend. The suspect faces charges including strangulation, substantial battery, 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety, false imprisonment, intimidating a victim, disorderly conduct-domestic violence related and felony bail jumping. The victim’s boyfriend was taken into custody just before 6:15 Wednesday night after he allegedly threatened her with a butcher knife before choking her to the point that the victim stated “she felt like she was going to die.” The woman also claimed the defendant grabbed a cellphone charger cord and began whipping her with it. The victim informed police that the assault and abuse took place over a 4-to-5-hour time period. In a separate case from July 23rd, the 37-year-old suspect allegedly confronted the same woman while she was riding a scooter in Washington Park where he reportedly pulled her off the scooter and assaulted her. The man involved in both incidents was apprehended and transported to the Manitowoc County Jail.
