Algoma is celebrating Shanty Days this weekend with its annual family-friendly festival on the shores of Lake Michigan.
It will run today (August 11th) through Sunday with various fun-filled activities including the fishing contest, volleyball tournaments, car cruises, music, food, and much more.
Starting on Friday with a 5K walk/run, the start of the annual fishing contest, and music, the grounds will be open from 3 pm-midnight for all guests with a wristband.
Wristbands are $10 for the entire weekend or $5 for just Sunday.
Saturday is filled with more 5K activities, a car cruise/show, an arts and crafts and street vendor fair, and a Battle on the Beach volleyball tournament.
There will also be a parade at 12 pm. The fishing contest concludes on Sunday, with more volleyball, street vendors, and music.
A kid’s bouncy house area will be open over the weekend with times and prices to be released. Music will be featured from multiple bands over the three days, with performances from Shy Guys, Rose Canyon Band, Pink Houses, Cougars, Fire on High, Lovin’ Country, and Bacchus Lotus. Lastly, a special fireworks show will take place at dusk on Sunday.
