Once again, the air quality in eastern Wisconsin is being affected by wildfires to the north.
Wildfires continue to burn in Canada and that smoke is blowing south into Wisconsin leading the DNR to update the Air Quality Advisory which remains in effect until 6:00 Monday morning.
Although less dense and delayed in arrival, the wildfire smoke began moving into the state from the northwest Thursday and traveled south southeast through this morning.
The National Weather Service warns that the air quality index could still reach the unhealthy for sensitive groups level today, which means those with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion.
However, as of this morning, Manitowoc and the surrounding counties are in the good to moderate range.
