With many communities around the state recording temperatures in the 90s Wednesday, including Manitowoc, during a heat advisory, electrical usage was very high.
According to Jennie Nelson, Communications Manager for Manitowoc Public Utilities, MPU recorded a peak hourly load of 110,310 kilowatts.
That says Nelson was the second highest on record with the top figure being 111,692 kilowatts back on July 11th of 2012.
The utility manager explained it marked the highest electric load they’ve seen in the past 10 years, easily surpassing the previous high of 106,676 kW set on July 26th, 2021.
Manitowoc’s official high was 92 degrees.
