Two local suicide prevention agencies have merged.
NAMI Manitowoc County and Prevent Suicide Manitowoc County issued a joint news release announcing the merger, with both boards of directors saying they “strongly believe that a collaboration of local mental health organizations will best address the needs of the people of Manitowoc County.”
Donna Firman, the President of NAMI Manitowoc County’s Board of Directors also noted in the release, “The missions of both organizations are similar. Combining Prevent Suicide Manitowoc County’s local community impact and NAMI Manitowoc County’s national reach and evidenced-based programming will best serve our local community.”
She also ensured all who previously donated to Prevent Suicide that those funds will be invested into mental health programs that can reduce suicide.
Funds donated and restricted to suicide prevention efforts, including those donated to veteran causes, will continue to be earmarked for those specific efforts.
