A police sergeant in Wauwatosa has been placed on suspension following his second arrest for driving under the influence.
The unfolding situation involving Sergeant Kyle Strands took a serious turn as he appeared in a Waupun courtroom yesterday to address charges stemming from an incident in which he allegedly struck a 12-year-old in a parking lot back in July.
Local authorities revealed that Sergeant Strands was apprehended while allegedly operating his vehicle with a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit.
This revelation follows his prior arrest for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) in 2012, during his tenure with the Fond du Lac Police Department.
The incident in July involving the reported collision with a 12-year-old in a parking lot has drawn significant attention.
The recent arrest has amplified concerns regarding Strands’ actions, prompting the Wauwatosa Police Department to take immediate action.
In response, they have suspended Strands from active duty pending further investigation.
During this suspension, Strands will continue to receive paid leave as the internal investigation unfolds.
This decisive course of action underscores the department’s commitment to thoroughness and accountability.
The Wauwatosa Police Department is steadfast in its pursuit of a just and comprehensive resolution to this situation.
