Two Rivers resident Matthew Brown-Edwards has received his sentence after being charged for the death of his girlfriend’s 8-week-old baby five years ago.
Brown-Edwards has been sentenced to 35 years in prison followed by 15 years on probation following a guilty verdict in a jury trial.
In January of 2018, first responders arrived on the scene to find an infant girl not breathing and without a pulse.
She then passed away two days later due to injuries that were consistent with severe physical abuse, including major bleeding in the brain.
He was accused of shaking the child until she became unconscious, and then dropping her, resulting in blunt force trauma to the head.
Brown-Edwards was ultimately charged with 1st Degree Reckless Homicide, Child Abuse Causing Great Bodily Harm, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
