The downtown area of Manitowoc continues to gain new residents, both in the River North Apartments and in the form of new businesses.
Mayor Justin Nickels was on the WCUB Breakfast Club yesterday (September 5th), where he noted a few of the new businesses on 8th Street.
“On the Surface is going to be where the old Manitowoc Company store was, next to where Manitowoc Coffee used to be,” he explained. “We’ve got Broken Spoke in where Manitowoc Coffee was…(and)Grow it Forward is moving in down town.”
On top of that, many of the existing businesses are getting facade facelifts.
Nickels also said that this continued revitalization of downtown is harboring back to days gone by.
“There’s a lot of cool things happening, a lot of unique shops that are starting to pop up,” Nickels said. “[That’s] great because people can then just shop downtown, like we did in the good ol’ days.”
And with work continuing on the River Point District, downtown Manitowoc is continuing to be re-transformed into a destination for residents and tourists alike.
