Prohibition occurred around the end of the First World War, and many say this is no accident.
The Maritime Museum in Manitowoc is welcoming the public to its free Think & Drink series event tonight (September 7th) to discuss the causes and effects of the prohibition movement.
Maritime Museum Development Coordinator Emily Shedal was on the WCUB Breakfast Club, where she explained, “At 6:30, we will have a presentation on prohibition, propaganda, and war with UW Whitewater Professor of History Karl Brown.”
Professor Brown will discuss the relationship between the world wars and America’s alcohol tendencies.
The featured drink of the night will be a local craft beer, but other alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks will be available to purchase.
The doors and bar open at 6 pm and the talk and live stream portion begins a half hour later.
Admission is free for both in-person and the live stream, but registration is required to access the virtual meet.
