Manitowoc’s representative in the Wisconsin Assembly has been tapped to serve on Speaker Robin Vos’s Task Force on Human Trafficking.
Representative Paul Tittl is one of 15 people on the bi-partisan task force, which also includes Representative David Steffen of Green Bay.
The task force was created following the release of the film The Sound of Freedom.
Tittl responded to his assignment to the task force in a written statement, saying “This film made people aware of what is happening in our communities. Forming this task force is a great first step to ending human trafficking in Wisconsin…I am honored to be chosen for this critical assignment.”
Wisconsin recorded 95 identified human trafficking cases in 2021 according to the National Human Trafficking Hotline.
The U.S. Department of Justice referred 2,198 people to U.S. Attorneys for human trafficking offenses in 2020, a 62% increase from 2011.
