The legal dispute surrounding the covertly placed microphones within Green Bay City Hall in 2021 has shifted to federal court, where a federal judge will oversee proceedings.
State Senator Andre Jacque has escalated his lawsuit against the city of Green Bay, asserting that the mayor engaged in surreptitious surveillance of individuals within City Hall.
In 2021, Green Bay discreetly installed hidden microphones in various locations, including outside the mayor’s office, the city council chambers, and the city clerk’s office.
Green Bay’s mayor contended that these microphones were implemented as security measures, with their feeds directed to the police department.
However, Jacque and others contend that the presence of these microphones remained undisclosed to the public for several months.
It was only last year that Green Bay’s city council ordered the removal of the concealed recording devices.
The federal court will now determine the appropriate course of action in this matter.
