The Boys & Girls Club of Manitowoc County is now offering new sensory-friendly spaces at their club, due to generous funding from the Northeastern Wisconsin Health Area Education Center.
The Club revamped its current Learning Centers with cushioned benches, carpets, bean bags, and other cushioned seating.
There are also reading nooks, and alternative lighting.
H.J. Martin and Son donated sound-dampening ceiling tiles that help to reduce the noise that can often be overstimulating.
Over the summer, more youth members have been using the rooms to read books, work on flashcards, make artwork, or just to unwind.
The Club is happy to see the positive benefits the sensory-friendly spaces have on youth behavior.
