A man was arrested Thursday after attempting to steal BB gun ammunition from the Manitowoc Fleet Farm.
According to police reports, officers were called to the store on South Rapids Road just before 1:45 p.m. to address the theft in progress.
The suspect, a 29-year-old man, was seen taking the security wrap off of the weapon using a magnet.
The officers set up nearby, waiting for the man to exit the store.
When they saw him, the officer approached the vehicle, made contact with him, and asked about what happened inside.
After initially denying any wrongdoing, the man admitted to taking the ammunition out of the BB gun’s packaging when an employee came out with the box.
The suspect was taken into police custody on charges of Retail Theft, and three counts of Bail Jumping, two felony and one misdemeanor.
The man had previously been convicted of retail theft as well as two open drug cases.
