There will be an eye in the sky this week above major highways in 5 counties, including Manitowoc.
According to the WisDOT Office of Public Affairs, Wisconsin State Patrol pilots are scheduled to keep an eye out for traffic violations from the air.
That includes I-43 here in Manitowoc County today (September 19th), I-41 in Fond du Lac County Wednesday, U.S. 51 in Oneida County this Friday, I-43 in Walworth County Saturday, and finally on Wisconsin 57 in Door County Sunday.
Aerial enforcement is one way to enhance public safety efforts, which is the patrol’s primary mission.
From the air, it’s much easier to spot drivers who are speeding or driving aggressively.
When a pilot observes a violation, they communicate with ground-based units to initiate a traffic stop.
