Wisconsin Sixth District Congressman Glenn Grothman and the seven other congressmen in the state want to rename the U.S. Post Office in Kiel.
Grothman led a delegation on legislation to designate the U.S. Post Office located on Fremont Street as the “Trooper Trevor J. Casper Post Office Building.”
Casper, a Kiel native, was the youngest police officer killed in the line of duty in the state of Wisconsin.
He was shot and killed in Fond du Lac when he was trying to arrest a bank robbery and murder suspect.
Grothman says, “Renaming this post office in his honor serves as a lasting tribute to this young man who was unwavering in his commitment to keeping our streets safe. His sacrifice should remind us of all the tremendous debt of gratitude we owe to our law enforcement officers.”
Officer Casper was born and raised in Kiel and participated in wrestling, soccer, and coaching youth sports.
He was able to graduate from the Wisconsin State Patrol Academy and was stationed at the State Trooper Base in Fond du Lac.
