A 31-year-old man is accused of knocking down a street sign while under the influence.
Manitowoc Police say they first saw a car they clocked at going over 60 miles an hour on South 10th Street.
The police officer started to go after the vehicle but lost it when it turned onto Marshall Street.
The officer later found a no-parking sign that was knocked down.
A second police officer later found a vehicle that looked like it was the one that sped away.
Damage was apparently found on the vehicle that looked like it hit a road sign.
The driver would later fail a field sobriety test and was taken to a hospital for a blood test.
During the test, the man made some unprovoked comments saying he could have just lost police with his car so easily and just decided to stop.
When the police officer brought items from the man’s car, he allegedly found a wade of paper towels and a dollar bill with a black tar-like substance.
Police say the man admitted that it was heroin.
He faces several charges including his 1st OWI and possession of heroin.
He was taken to the Manitowoc County Jail.
