Bail is set at $100,000 cash for a 36-year-old Manitowoc man who was linked to an overdose death this summer in the city.
Christopher L. Ducat is charged with First-Degree Reckless Homicide and delivery of fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine.
Officers responded to an apartment on Manitowoc’s southside in July on the report of an unconscious individual who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A search of the apartment revealed fentanyl, which is alleged to have been used by the victim.
A witness woke up and called 911, also attempting lifesaving measures to no avail.
An ongoing investigation concluded that Ducat and the victim had communicated with each other just before he was found dead, warning him that people were overdosing on the drugs that Ducat allegedly gave him.
Conditions of bail are that Ducat have “no contact” with the victim’s family and maintain “absolute sobriety”
He remains in the County Jail with an initial appearance scheduled for October 16th 1:30 p.m.
