Baiting and feeding deer has now been banned in Calumet County.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources announced that a group of farm-raised deer in Outagamie County have tested positive for chronic wasting disease.
The disease causes dramatic weight loss, stumbling, and listlessness in deer and it can also be fatal.
DNR officials say state law requires a three-year baiting and feeding ban in all counties where CWD is detected and a two-year ban in counties surrounding the county.
Calumet County now has a two-year ban while Outagamie County renewed its ban and Waupaca and Winnebago Counties already have a ban in place after CWD was detected.
The DNR also asks hunters to have their deer tested for the disease hunting and reminds hunters to properly dispose of deer carcasses to prevent the spread of the disease.
