Ships Sophomore Jordin Popp has been eliminated in the opening round of the WIAA State Girls Individual Girls Tennis Tournament at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.
Jordin was defeated by Junior Eliza Martin of Monona Grove 6-0,6-0.
Martin moves on to the next round with a record of 22 and 8 while Popp wraps up an excellent season with a mark of 27 and 3, her first as a varsity player.
Meanwhile, Lincoln senior and top overall seed Olivia Minikel drew a first-round bye and is currently taking on Ashwaubenon’s Jordan Domnick, who was a straight set winner over Lily Witwer of
Wausau West earlier today.
Also, on the court this afternoon are the doubles tandem of Taylor Peterson and Zylia Kleinfeldt are facing Mary Sullivan and Sophie Lin of Notre Dame Academy of Green Bay.
In Division Two, the Roncalli doubles team of Megan and Madison Lamers will battle Catholic Memorial’s Jenna Ramthun and Maggie Schmitzer.
That match is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m.
