It was a very productive day for Manitowoc Lincoln at The WIAA State Girls Individual Tennis Tournament in Madison.
Senior and top overall seed in Division One Olivia Minikel improved to 30 and 0 with a straight-set 6-0, 6-2 second-round victory over Jordan Domnick of Ashwaubenon.
Minikel, who had a first-round bye, advances to the third round with her match scheduled to begin at 10:30 Friday morning.
Manitowoc Lincoln’s number one doubles team of junior Taylor Peterson and sophomore Zylia Kleinfledt are moving on.
They defeated the doubles tandem of Mary Sullivan and Sophie Lin from Notre Dame Academy of Green Bay 6-4,6-4.
They improve to 20 and 8 on the season and will play a second-round match Friday morning at 9 a.m.
Ships Sophomore Jordin Popp has been eliminated as she was defeated by Junior Eliza Martin of Monona Grove 6-0,6-0.
Martin moves on to the next round with a record of 22 and 8 while Popp wraps up an excellent season with a mark of 27 and 3, her first as a varsity player.
In Division Two, The Roncalli doubles tandem of Megan and Madison Lamers will take a 16 and 4 record into their first-round match against (Waukesha) Catholic Memorial’s Jenna Ramthun and
Maggie Schmitzer.
The match is scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m.
