A public hearing was held for the 2023-24 Manitowoc Public School District budget Tuesday evening.
The proposed budget shows the district has about $92 million in revenue and is expected to use about $90 million.
The balance left is expected to be about $2.2 million.
This year the district’s tax levy was set at about $17 million, which is less than in 2022.
While the proposed budget should end in a surplus, Director of Business Services Angela Erdmann says the district’s general operations fund will be at a deficit because of several projects they will be doing including replacing the JFK Fieldhouse track and elevator upgrades at three of the schools.
The budget will be approved at a future school board meeting.
