A garage caught fire in Appleton earlier this week.
According to the Appleton Fire Department, crews were sent to a residence in the 900 block of West Glendale Avenue at around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday (October 11th) on a report of a garage fire.
The caller noted that flames were seen coming from inside the structure, but when the firefighters arrived, there was only light smoke visible.
When they entered, the walls were charred in the area surrounding a wood-burning stove.
It was determined that the stove had been improperly installed, leading to the fire.
No injuries were reported, and no damage cost estimate has been released.
The Department used this case to remind residents to always follow the manufacturer’s instructions when installing or using an appliance.
