The Wisconsin Department of Transportation wants to reconstruct a major part of Highway 42 in Manitowoc.
But they want the public’s input before construction gets started. They are holding a Public Involvement Meeting at Manitowoc City Hall on Monday, October 23rd at 5 p.m.
There will be a short presentation followed by an open-house style format with attendees being able to speak with project staff one-on-one.
The meeting allows for residents’ feedback on proposed design elements for construction, discusses possible schedule and traffic impacts, and provides information on real estate needs.
The project would be from the Manitowoc exit on Interstate 43 and go up toward 8th Street.
Construction would include replacing existing concrete pavement, rehabilitation of the Interstate 43 ramps, curb and gutters, sidewalks, intersection improvements, and another possible roundabout.
Construction is scheduled for 2029 and 2030.
Traffic impacts would include full closures, detours, lane closures, and flagging operations.
