The Wisconsin Department of Justice and Division of Criminal Investigation has been called to Fond du Lac to investigate an officer-involved shooting.
Officers with both the Fond du Lac Police and County Sheriff’s Department were called to the scene of a disturbance in the 500 block of Drury Place at around 6:00 Saturday morning.
While very little information has been released, it is being reported that the officers saw a man sitting in a vehicle, and shortly after shots were fired.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while a Sheriff’s Department K9 was struck by a round and was seriously injured.
As of Sunday evening, the K9 is in stable condition, thanks in part to a yellow lab owned by a vet tech at the veterinary hospital.
The dog named Dwyer was a blood match and served as a donor through a transfusion.
As is standard protocol, the sheriff’s Deputy who fired their weapon has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is ongoing.
