A former Manitowoc mayor has been elected to the Manitowoc Area Visitor and Convention Bureau Board of Directors.
Kevin Crawford will join the board after a meeting last Thursday (October 12th).
Crawford says he wants to focus on bringing back a partnership between Manitowoc and Two Rivers that made the area an economic force in tourism.
He says, “Some things have been lost as the City of Manitowoc has tried to reinvent the wheel, but there are still many of the working parts alive and well and nothing is stronger than regional families and businesses working together.”
In 2021, the City of Manitowoc ended its years-long partnership with the MAVCB in order to start its own visitor agency with downtown Manitowoc as its primary focus.
Crawford also wants help from current Mayor Justin Nickels.
He says “I know our mayor, and I know he wants the best for our city. All our families would be better served if he came back to the table and resumed discussion about our common future. So many visitors and so much money is passing us by every day.”
