The expansion of L.B. Clarke Middle School in Two Rivers is now officially underway.
Principal Timothy Wester, Superintendent Diane Johnson and Board Commissioner Gary Shavlik, construction manager, Jason Vogds of CG Schmidt were all on hand Monday for a groundbreaking ceremony at the school, located at 4608 Bellevue Place.
The project was made possible by the voters, as they approved a $38.7 million referendum in the last election which will allow the school to get a new, precast gymnasium on the west side of the school and additional classrooms for a fifth grade wing on the north-side of the school.
Remodeling during the summer of 2024 will improve existing classrooms, technical education space, building and electrical updates, an expanded cafeteria, parking, and safety and security updates.
Construction will officially begin at the end of next year.
Additionally, some of the referendum money is going to district-wide modifications at Two Rivers High School, Koenig Elementary School, and Magee Elementary School.
