Milwaukee authorities have announced the resolution of two long-standing murder cases that had remained unsolved for decades.
Investigators have successfully identified the perpetrator in the cases of 19-year-old Diane Olkwitz, who was killed in 1966, and 15-year-old Terri Lee Erdmann, whose murder occurred in 1971.
Diane Olkwitz was found dead in Menomonee Falls, having suffered approximately 100 stab wounds.
Similarly, Terri Lee Erdman was discovered dead in Milwaukee, with over 60 stab wounds.
The investigators have identified Clarence Tappendorf as the assailant in both cases, closing the files with the assistance of DNA evidence and forensic genealogy.
Although Tappendorf, who worked as a delivery driver, was questioned in connection to Olkwitz’s death, he was never charged.
Clarence Tappendorf passed away in 2008 at the age of 80.
