The Two Rivers Raiders play host to an old EWC foe in Level Two of The WIAA Football Playoffs tonight as they welcome the Campbellsport Cougars to Ron Rubick Field in Manitowoc for a Division Four matchup.
The undefeated Raiders won the Eastern Wisconsin Conference title for a second straight year, advancing with a 56-0 rout of St. Francis last Friday night, while the 8 and 2 Cougars of The Flyway Conference meet an EWC opponent for a second straight week after eliminating Kohler/Sheboygan Lutheran/ Christian 17 to 10 in the opening round.
Senior Chase Matthias of The Raiders has rushed for nearly 1,700 yards and 26 touchdowns, while Campbellsport’s Benjamin Timm has comparable stats rushing for 1,661 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Both teams hold their own on defense, but where Two Rivers may have an edge is in the passing game where senior quarterback Justin Klinkner has thrown for 1,669 yards with 21 touchdowns to eight different receivers and only two interceptions.
The Raiders have only missed the playoffs once under Coach Kevin Shillcox and look to advance to Level Three for a second consecutive year.
