Local law officials are stepping up enforcement of impaired driving and seat belt violations under a new state grant. From October of this year through September of next year, state grant funds will be used to pay for overtime to increase enforcement in those areas. This will assist the efforts of Manitowoc and Two Rivers police and the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s department, and they will be deploying extra officers. Manitowoc police lieutenant Adam Sohlden says the goal is that motorists voluntarily comply with impaired driving and seat belt laws.
