A man was taken into custody over the weekend in Brown County following a disturbance involving an incident regarding a male possibly armed with a gun.
The sheriff’s office said its deputies and officers from the Hobart-Lawrence and Pulaski Police Departments responded to the disturbance about 4pm in the Village of Hobart.
While law enforcement was responding, the armed male left in a vehicle which was later located in the parking lot of Walmart East.
In the interest of public safety, a community notification was issued in the vicinity advising people to shelter in place and avoid the area.
Authorities then apprehended the driver of the vehicle without incident.
The advisory was in place for approximately 45 minutes before being lifted.
The suspect’s identity was not revealed and the incident remains under investigation.
