The rainy weather in Manitowoc last week wasn’t all bad, especially when it comes to crops in the area.
We spoke with Manitowoc’s Agriculture Educator Angie Ulness about how the rain has impacted the farms in the county.
“Wet weather that we’re having this week is very welcomed,” she said. “I heard a crop consultant say they were trying to take some soil samples, and their bending the probe that the subsoil moisture was so poor. This rain, although it’s putting a damper on fieldwork and progressing with beans and also grain corn, it is welcome to get our moisture levels back up in our soils”.
Now with the rain changing to snow, Ulness reminds farmers of the upcoming Manitowoc County Forage Council forage feeding meeting.
It is scheduled for December 14th from 10:00 to 2:00 p.m., and this year it will take place at Hightower Dairy in Valders.
The meeting will include discussions on all relative topics, plus a tour.
