A man has been charged with possession of THC after he was pulled over by Manitowoc Police for not having his headlights on.
Manitowoc Police say when the officer approached the vehicle, the 31-year-old man was shaking while talking to his dad on the phone.
When police asked the suspect to step out of the vehicle to search because he apparently smelled like marijuana, he said he didn’t want police to search his vehicle.
When police confronted the man about the vehicle smelling like marijuana, he said he smoked in his car because his parents wouldn’t let him do it inside.
When police said they can search the vehicle because they had probable cause, the suspect said there might be a pipe and a little bit of pot in the car.
Because the man had four prior drug convictions, he was taken to police headquarters.
When the man’s parents arrived, his father claimed the pot was his and that the suspect was transporting it for him.
Police the father also told them that they were ruining his life because they were taking his son to jail.
