Several Democratic lawmakers are set to propose a plan for providing free lunches to all students in the Wisconsin Capitol.
The Healthy School Meals for All Wisconsin Coalition will hold a press conference to introduce this plan, which aims to expand Wisconsin’s existing free lunch program. Currently, eligible students receive either free or reduced-price lunches.
The coalition seeks to extend this benefit to all students in the state.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the federal government temporarily provided free lunches to all students, but the conclusion of the emergency order led to the discontinuation of the universal free lunch program.
