Most public school districts’ report cards in and around Manitowoc County are either at or below the state average.
That’s according to accountability report cards from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction that were released Tuesday (November 14th).
Manitowoc, Two Rivers, and Reedsville School Districts “meet few expectations”, which is just below fails to meet expectations according to DPI ratings.
Two Rivers has the lowest score with 51.6 while Manitowoc has a 57 rating and Reedsville gets a 56.6.
School Districts in the area that meet expectations are Kiel, Kewaunee, Sheboygan Falls, Sheboygan Area, Valders Area, and Mishicot.
Public districts with higher ratings including Brillion and Oostburg exceed expectations according to DPI data.
In private districts, Roncalli Catholic School meets expectations while Manitowoc Lutheran significantly exceeds expectations, the best rating a district can get.
The department of instruction was looking at a priority weight area including achievement, growth, target group outcomes, and on-track graduation.
While the scores might seem low, the department reminds people that the data is affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
