A 31-year-old man was arrested after allegedly causing injuries to another man. Manitowoc Police say an officer was flagged down by a man after he was assaulted with a glass bottle in the 1000 block of South 14th Street.
He was taken to the Holy Family Memorial along with another person involved in the incident.
When police talked to a woman who lives at the home, she said the suspect grabbed a knife because he heard yelling outside, but she didn’t see an altercation.
The suspect ended up cutting his hand with the knife and was also taken to the hospital.
When police spoke to the victim at the hospital, he said the suspect, himself, and two other people were drinking in a garage when the suspect got mad for not paying for some work he did for the victim.
Police say the suspect then grabbed a broken beer bottle and struck the victim with it.
The suspect then allegedly went back inside his house, grabbed a knife, and started swinging at the victim saying he was going to kill him.
The woman, who police interviewed earlier, grabbed the knife from the suspect who tried to get it back and that caused him to get the cut on his hand.
When the suspect was arrested, he allegedly started kicking the backseat of the police car before being taken to the hospital.
He was eventually taken to the Manitowoc County Jail before being charged with substantial battery, endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, and disorderly conduct.
