Following the success of its “Ukraine Candle” which raised more than $1 million for Ukraine, the Door County Candle Company has unveiled a new, limited-edition candle.
The “Sunflower Holodomor” candle commemorates the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor.
This unique collaboration with the Holodomor90 anti-genocide campaign aims to raise awareness and recognition for the victims of a man-made genocide that took place in Ukraine from 1932 to 1933, at the direction of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin.
Christiana Trapani, who is Ukrainian-American and owner of Door County Candle Company based in Wisconsin tells us they chose the sunflower yellow color because “the sunflower is a beloved symbol of Ukrainian national identity.”
