The Manitowoc Police Department is looking for participants for the 2024 Citizens’ Academy.
The goal is to provide graduates of the academy with a working knowledge of the Manitowoc PD and to strengthen community support and involvement.
Academy classes will be taught by members of the police department who will be candid about their duties and experiences as law enforcement officers.
Class discussion will be encouraged but classroom lectures will be kept to a minimum, to maximize “hands-on” practical exercises.
Topics covered in the academy include topics like police department operations, use of force, firearms, building searches, domestic violence, internet sex predators, drug awareness, human trafficking, and courtroom testimony.
