The city of Manitowoc’s 2024 budget has been approved.
The common council voted 8-2 to pass it, with Aldermen Brett Vanderkin and Todd Reckelberg voting no.
It includes a $19 million tax levy with a 1 million tax increment finance district. The budget invests $5 million into road improvements on Franklin, South 30th, Rapids Rd, and Viebahn Street.
Plus, there’s $250,000 for the start of the 2029 2030 proposed Washington and Calumet Street replacement.
Council President Eric Sitkiewitz says he’s also happy it invests in alleyways that need repairs.
Other projects include a Marina “A Dock” Replacement and a $290,000 roof replacement for the Rahr-West Museum.
There will also be several park improvement projects as well. Finance Committee Chair Jim Brey thanked each city department for their help in crafting the budget.
