An Eastern Wisconsin legislator is looking to make some changes to the Wake Boat Lake Protection Standards.
Senator Andre Jacque of De Pere has introduced a bill that he says will restrict the operation of a motorboat, causing a hazardous wake.
Jacque tells Seehafer News that the bill “prohibits such operation on a lake smaller than 1,500 acres, and less than 700 feet from the shoreline or from any boat, swimmer, or other water user on a lake that is 1,500 acres or larger.”
He also noted that the measure is important because “While fun and largely safe for use on larger lakes, wake boats involve massive water displacement for the generation of very large, hazardous wakes for surfing and wakeboarding that can pose a significant danger to other water users in their vicinity.”
