The City of Two Rivers will be funded through 2024.
The City Council approved the city budget during last night’s (December 4th) meeting.
The $40 million total budget includes spending about $12.2 million from the city’s general fund, which is a 7% increase from 2023.
Most of the money is going toward personnel costs, with a pay increase for non-union employees and a 15% increase in health insurance premiums.
However, two new city jobs the city budgeted for will take applicants if the council approves allowing people to apply for those jobs.
City Manager Greg Buckley also told the council the budget invests back into the community.
“The budget proposes a continued investment in our capital facilities, whether it’s street and utility infrastructure or park improvements like a major project with pedestrian improvements on the Washington Street bridge coming up,” he clarified. “So overall, I feel pretty good about (the budget).”
Other projects include money for the West River Lofts and other monies for the Confluence apartment project, Woodland Industrial Park, and borrowing for the Sandy Bay Subdivision.
Another thing the budget did was increase the cost of the sticker fee for Solid Waste Utility from $2.50 to $3.
The council also voted 7-1 for a $14 million tax levy.
