Bail is set at $900 cash for a 50-year-old man after allegedly stealing his mother’s car.
Chad A. Wenzel, who provided no address to the court, is charged with Taking and Operating a Vehicle without the Owner’s consent and Possession of Methamphetamine.
Officers were called to a residence in the 900 block of Linden Avenue in Manitowoc Monday morning for a report of a stolen vehicle.
Wenzel’s mother told police she saw him looking into her car, talking to himself. Moments later, her son, who was living with her, and her car were missing.
Wenzel returned home Tuesday, but her car was still unaccounted for. Police located him walking on the sidewalk nearby, talking to himself in possession of methamphetamine and around $900 in cash.
He was taken into custody without further incident and remains in The County Jail with three open cases against him pending.
Conditions of Bail include that Wenzel has “no contact” with any known “drug dealers or users,” has “no assaultive contact” with the victim (his mother), does not possess any “non-prescribed” controlled substances, and maintains “absolute sobriety.”
An initial court appearance is scheduled for December 11th at 1:30.
