A local assistant police chief was making her voice heard down in Madison.
A local government official in Two Rivers who was watching for library legislation on Wisconsin Eye, the state’s version of C-SPAN, says he saw testimony from Two Rivers Assistant Police Chief Mellisa Wiesner.
Police Chief Ben Meinnert says there was a discussion with Two Rivers State Assemblyman Shae Sortwell at a Coffee with a Cop event about some upcoming legislation that he was concerned about, including a bill that involves ambulance service and another that would help police officers with mental health problems.
The legislation would allow for mental health services, including peer support for police officers and confidentiality for those services.
Meinnert says Wiesner is one of the leaders in the state for these issues.
