A woman was arrested last night (December 7th) after attempting to steal from Walmart.
The Manitowoc Police Department dispatched two officers to the store on Calumet Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. to investigate a theft report.
The officers were initially looking for a man who had left on foot but informed of another individual, a 22-year-old woman, who was trying to conceal items.
When officers approached, they saw a glass meth pipe and numerous open packages.
A review of the security cameras showed the woman grab several items, including sneakers, bic lighters, and trading cards, and enter the bathroom in the rear of the store. As she went to leave the restroom, she was detained by police.
During questioning, the woman admitted to coming to the store with the man the police were initially looking for, but when he left, the woman said she started to panic.
She also admitted that she had no intention of paying for the items in her backpack, so she was arrested on charges of Retail Theft and Felony Bail Jumping.
