A man is facing charges after bringing a sword and several other bladed weapons to the Manitowoc Police Department.
Officers were looking on the security camera live feed when they saw a man standing in front of the department’s entrance at around 1:00 Monday morning (December 11th).
They noticed the 18-year-old man appeared to have a sword slung on his back, so they went out to see why.
The man told police someone he knew was locked up and wanted to know what happened.
The officers were able to get the man to place the sword on the ground, along with a dagger and three additional knives.
The man was then taken into custody without further incident.
While speaking with police, the man admitted to consuming “six to eight Twisted Teas” before changing the number to twelve.
When asked why he was armed so heavily, he told police that his “opponents” had mugged him in the past, and he wanted to be protected.
He was charged with one count each of Misdemeanor and Felony Bail Jumping.
