There is only one meeting on tap today (December 18th) in the City of Manitowoc.
The Committee of the Whole will be in the Council Chambers at 6:00 p.m., where they will discuss a summons and complaint for the 2023 tax assessment submitted by Walgreen Co.
According to the lawsuit the city’s assessor valued the property at about $3.8 million which means the city would be asking for about $74,850 in taxes.
Walgreen Co. believes the property is worth closer to $2.4 million, and the store on Calumet Ave. shouldn’t be paying more than $47,548 in taxes.
The city could approve a refund of about $14,000 which will go back to Walgreens and dismiss the lawsuit.
